This past Sunday’s Blue & Gold Banquet was sensational! We would like to give a big THANK YOU to the boys of Bear Den 1, Jim Naff and Bill Mahoney for coordinating such a wonderful, Nautical-Themed Blue & Gold. The hard work was evident by all. And again this year, Bushel N’ Peck Catering donated all the food provided during dinner, and with that we can’t thank them enough!
This year, a total of 64 Cub Scouts earned their Rank badges. Each scout was presented their badge by their den leader and parent. This honored their hard work and effort by achieving all that is required of them to earn their rank!
The Blue & Gold also marked the end of Cubmaster Chris Paquin’s time with Pack 106. I’m sure everyone involved with the pack will truly miss Chris’ enthusiasm for scouting as well as his determination to make Pack 106 successful. Even though Chris will not be directly involved in the pack, he will still be involved in scouting as the Scoutmaster for Troop 106! We are sure he, and the Scouts of Troop 106, will be there for the pack when we need them. So Chris will not be too far away! We also would like to thank Chris’ right hand woman, Mary Lou, for being the Pack’s Treasurer for many years. Thanks Mary Lou!
With Chris leaving, this has left the need for a new Cubmaster. Lewis Alderton has graciously accepted his new role as Pack 106 Cubmaster! While he has big shoes to fill, we all have full confidence that Cubmaster Alderton has the drive to keep the momentum of the pack going. We are in great hands!
Though all this exciting stuff has happened, the biggest part of the Blue & Gold Banquet is to also say congratulations and goodbye to the boys in the Arrow of Light “Eagle Den.” They are now crossed over and have become Boy Scouts. All boys, Cameron C., Christopher C., Rahul H., Jacob P., Kevin R., Nicholas S., Luke T., and Hunter W. will be joining Boy Scouts whether in Troop 106 or 107. These boys also wouldn’t be able to do what they did with out all the planning and hard work of Chris Paquin, as well as Leader Jen Thomas. Jen Thomas has been with the boys since Tiger Cubs!! We are proud of all your hard work and will miss seeing you all at pack meetings!!! Unfortunately Matthew L was not able to be with us during the Banquet as he was away with his family so a special presentation has been planned for this Saturday, February 23, at Ward Hill during our snow Tubing event. We can’t wait!
Finally, we were able to officially recognize all the boys who have earned their STEM “Science Everywhere” & “Tech Talk” Nova Awards and/or the “Charles H. Townes” Supernova Recipients. 14 Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts have met many times, and worked exceptionally hard to meet all the requirements for the STEM awards and 7 Scouts were able to achieve the “Charles H. Townes” Supernova Award. The Boys are the first scouts in the entire state to accomplish this. CONGRATULATIONS to all the boys on such an exceptional accomplishment! Read the past post detailing the boys’ achievements!
Congrats to all the boys for jobs well done!
