Pack 106 Cub Scout Registration
Boys in Grafton entering 1st-4th Grades Are Eligible
Cub Scout Pack 106 is holding pre-registration for the 2010-2011 year for new scouts entering
grades 1-4 in the fall. The new year kicks off Friday, September 24, 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church in North Grafton.
To start the registration process for your son for the 2010-2011 year, fill out the registration form
and then return it to Steve Pope either by
email or by mail to 36 Christopher Drive, Grafton, MA 01519. Existing scouts in Pack 106 should
register in September as in years past.
The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den groups like aged children
together. First graders are part of the Tiger den, second graders are in the Wolf den, third
graders are in the Bear den, and fourth graders are in the Webelo den. Once a boy becomes a
member of Cub Scouts, they will have monthly pack and den meetings and lots of fun activities
to participate in throughout the year. Many fun trips are planned including hikes, 'Go See
Its’, and sleepovers at Battleship Cove, The Museum of Science, and our Council’s camp called
Treasure Valley.
As Cub Scouts, the boys will learn about many things including: citizenship, physical
fitness, sharing and team work. Throughout the year the boys work on a number of requirements
set forth to achieve their rank, in addition to working on academic and athletic belt loops
and pins in their spare time. Every January, the famous Pinewood Derby is held and the boys
not only build their own cars from scratch, but they race them against other boys in the
Pack. In addition, Pack 106 holds its Blue & Gold Dinner every February to celebrate the
birthday of scouting.
The Cub Scout motto is 'Do your best' and the Cub Scout promise is about boys doing
their best, helping other people and being a good scout to other boys in the pack. Cub
Scouting is more than 80 years old and across the country millions of boys have been part
of the fun. Did you know that Hank Aaron, John F. Kennedy, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton,
Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, Nolan Ryan and Neil Armstrong were scouts?
Cub Scout Pack 106 was founded more than 45 years ago and is very active in the community.
Pack 106's leadership is made up of volunteer parents led by Cubmaster Steve Pope, an Eagle
Scout himself.
