December 2010 Hike – West Boylston
We had a really nice hike today in West Boylston. We went 5 miles along a very nice and well-maintained old “rail trail”. The weather started out a bit cold, but by noon, the boys were taking off their jackets – especially to enjoy running up and down the “sand hill!”
Below are some pictures of the hike.

December Pack Meeting… Aaawwww Yeah!
Our December Pack Meeting was memorable for a couple of reasons:
First, it was the culmination of our 2010 Popcorn Campaign, with all the boys getting their rewards. In case you don’t know, our boys set a new Mohegan Council record this year with pack sales of $36,700! The #1 incentive for most of them was the “Marshmallow Shooter” award – this item was rewarded to boys who sold more than $600 in popcorn. We had 20 boys reach that level! And, in addition to those prizes, there were a few others that really got the boys excited, like retail gift cards from both the Pack and Council. All boys who filled complete sheets (30 customers) also earned free tickets to an upcoming Sharks game, with the chance to skate on the ice after the game, too! And if that wasn’t enough, our Den “Top Sellers” were all rewarded with Movie Passes and concession vouchers. The Pack “Top Seller” was rewarded with a backpack chock full of cool hiking and camping gear.
The second major item at our meeting was a visit by Brett “Ooch” Outchcunis, the Yomega yoyo guy! Ooch was a major hit for the boys, who really enjoyed his style and humor, not to mention the cool yoyo tricks! After he gave us a show, the boys had the opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents for themselves for some great prices.
The agenda has been posted on the Links and Attachments page too, and some pictures and youtube videos are below. Enjoy!

November Pack Meeting & Popcorn Pickup
Mrs. Rodrique announced some great news to the Pack: we had another record-breaking year for popcorn sales! Last year’s sales were $20,700, which was a council record itself, but the boys beat that by 75%, and sold $36,700! The results were so incredible that rather than award only one den the “Coco Keys” visit, the entire pack will be going! In December, the top selling boys from the dens and pack will be announced, and all the rewards will be delivered.
We also had some special guests. Grant Fritchey, Assistant Scoutmaster from Troop 107 (and former Cubmaster of 106) told a few bad jokes to the boys, and talked about how much fun Boy Scouts is, and urged the Webelos II scouts to join him in a few months after the Blue and Gold banquet. We also had Al and Diane Lagor present some adult awards to some of the Pack leaders.
After the awards were given to the boys and some announcements were made, the boys all personalized some Pack 106 Holiday cards, and assembled some Holiday food baskets for charity. They then watched a short holiday video and picked up their Pinewood Derby kits.
On the Saturday after the pack meeting, the boys began picking up their popcorn for deliveries at Mr. Pope’s house.
Below are a few pictures from both of the events. The meeting agenda can be accessed from the resources page.
