“Banner of Achievement”

About the Program

As our motto “Grafton Scouts Venture Out!” indicates, Pack 106 attempts to be active in all areas of a boy’s growth: Mental, Physical, and Emotional. Part of all of these is encouraging our boys to “Do Their Best”, and strive for personal achievement, especially with Outdoor activity.

One area that we’ve been particularly successful is with our Hiking program, which rewards exemplary participation (50 miles of hiking with the pack) with a Personalized Walking Stick. In fact, it’s been so successful in motivating the boys to “Venture Out” that in 2010, we’re expanding the program to include other areas that we hope will further motivate our boys to participate in Pack activities.

The “Banner of Achievement” is simply a banner that is displayed at Pack Meetings that will recognize boys who excel in Pack activities. It is our firm belief that all boys can achieve recognition on the Banner as long as they are exposed to the activities, and motivated to achieve. Scouting website policies restrict information that can be published, and so this Banner also serves as a semi-permanent (at least for the boy’s Cub Scout Career) record and reminder of boys’ achievements.
